Go Up Go Down

Hi all. I have been lurking on the forum for a few days now. The place has kept me busy learning. I picked up a chepo Pioneer 101 from the pawn shop, and have been learning in my own yard. Recent discoverys include, two thats (2) cents. Plus the most important one of all.

A "distribution box" that is just a buried 55 gallon barrel that connects to the old septic tank located somewhere under my back porch. The top is rusting out and it was buried barely 8" underground. That thing could have easily collapsed and "ate" something, like my child.

I was playing with discrimination and had ferrous dialed out, what I picked up was the bung plugs on top. I carefully dug down thinking I had found a hidden cache. Though that dream was crushed, the eat monster hiding my yard is now being dealt with in a harsh manor. After I carefully check it out that is.  Wink

I am now of course hooked, that find had me going.  Rider

No doubt saved me allot of grief, except for the part of collapsing it and filling it in. In context, thats nothing though.

I'm afraid as I learn to use this thing better, my Metal Detector is going to be due a brain swap soon. I'm an equipment hacker you see, I really only wanted it for the coil, bar, and box. As well as learning to use one.

Going to keep it looking as stock as possible while I rebuild everything that is hidden on the inside. You look at it and it says chepo, while on the inside it's a whole different animal.

I love hacks like these. And it's much easier since it already has the project enclosure, bar/grip, and coil. I still have to settle on the design, VLF vs. PI circuit... hmmmm   Fight

Hi lycidas69, welcome to the forum.  Nice discovery you made w/the detector. They can be useful for lots of things - like finding old property markers, too. Sue
