Welcome aboard, Debbie! I've read about Welsh gold - found in seams instead of mixed with rock. You're living in such a fine area for discovering neat old stuff, too. I'm envious  Smiley Wishing you the best! Sue

Hi Deb!  I haven't been to Wales in many years, but I remember it as very green and beautiful.  Best of luck on your hunts! Welcome

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hi, I JUST REGISTERED TODAY----I LIVE IN THE STATE OF ALABAMA--U.S.A. I have used many makes and models-I've owned probably twenty different detectors over the years-maybe more-ha! i've been using a friend's minelab sovereign and it is kinda heavy on my wrist-but a really good machine-it has a SUNRAY METER ON IT THAT'S ONE OF THE BEST METERS I'VE EVER USED. I can tell you this-the deepest machine I've ever owned was one of the old Garrett Deepseekers with a 12" coil---the next in line depth wise was my FISHER CZ5 AND MY CZ6. I've found many things amongst trash with Tesoro detectors--they just seem to be the best in high trash areas. The sovereign is okay at that also. but those Tesoros are so darn light and comfy to use. I'D RATHER HAVE A METER ON A DETECTOR. IT CAN HELP IN SOME SITUATIONS.
