Go Up Go Down

Once upon a time,  Mad  Mad

Hi all it's nice to be back.

Seriously, having worked our Aces exceptionally hard for 4 years,
and due to increased competition from 1/2 a dozen Minelabs. Fight Fight

We've finally taken the bull by the horns and went for a more serious upgrade,
but still not a top of the range machine, although it's big upgrade for us. Detecting

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeees we've now got a pair of
                               [/b] Fisher F70s

Their terrific machines and we're in love all over again with the F70s of course.

Due to the weather here we haven't been out huntin' since 28th November 2010.  Cry
Although if we're lucky we might get out on Wednesday or Thursday coming.

Needless to say we're still learning them yet,
although have had a couple of good clad hunts and one 9k eternity ring.  Great Great
Sorry no pics this time.
I was forced to get a new PC  over christmas and lost a lot of pics.
So cya'll soon.

Hi GD 1950,

Since our finds had been dropping off due to the heavy competition,
I had developed an inferiority complex (beach huntin' anyway)
and felt that I wasn't in the same league as most of you guys.  Sad Sad

Much as we both loved our Aces and they had been good to us,  Clapp Clapp
because of the decline in our finds we had to get new machines that
would help us to get more of the loot again.

That being said, there are some guys out there working all nighters, which is still making it difficult for us.
However we have been moving further afield to beaches they wouldn't even have a go at, and we've made plans to do more beaches further away.  Rider Rider

Hopefully we'll come back with a bang once we've got the measure of our new machines

It's odd to me that you would look towards beaches for better finds living where you do. The forests that today appear to be uninhabited were once teeming with villages and are prime locations for some really ancient finds. Put Google Earth to the test and look at some satellite pictures of your nearby forests and see if you can pick out any features that may be archaeology waiting for you to explore.

Here in Australia, the early populations of metal using people starts out in 1820 or so and the population stayed towards the coastlines. We have no choice but to look towards beaches or older parts of cities. Urban sprawl today means old stuff for 5 generations down the pike. Towns and villages in Scotland from 400 years ago are now overgrown by forests or have become big cities. Seems to me your choices for great finds are endless compared to mine.
