I tryed to set it up the way you told me.
There is no beep, beep or motor boat sound.
I get just a steady tone! Also the needle is going from
right to left. The batteries are new. There looks to be a
nylon or plastic screw on the needle. Is this how you
adjust it? Do you think it is broken?
Thank You
Sarge

Does the tone Very up and down when you tune it?

Can you post a better photo of the controls?

They did make a TR version of detector like that.

Does it respond to metal at all?

The tone does not seem to change at all.
I ran my pocket knife under it and it sounded,I tryed a penny, quarter.
All detected, all the same tone.Sounds like a horn.
Tryed it out side dug up a nickle and a nail. All the same tone.
Here is another picture.
Thank You for the reply.

LOL! Your photo's suck.

Still think it's a BFO.

Can you tune it down to just a buzz?

Sorry about the pics.
The controll on the right says:all metal and null.
All metal counter clock wise.Null clockwise.
If I turn it counter clockwise the tone is steady.
As I turn it clockwise tone disapears.
No matter what I run under the coil it is the same tone.
Thank You

This may or may not help some but a BFO is a BFO my old old old garrett coin hunter has more buttons than yours but it works the same.  Check the BFO.pdf attachment

Sounds like TR detector.   BFO, the freq goes up or down in any that I've dealt with.

Does the tone vary in Volume on a target?
