Hi everybody, I'm from Colorado, passionate prospector, totally new to metal detecting. Would like to build one myself, because that is just a kind of guy I am javascript:void(0); (have a little electronics background). Looks like a fun forum, looking forward to participate!

This is pretty cool! I'm going to need a lot of help in deciding on equipment, techniques, locations etc., since I've never done this before. I see you've been detecting for a while. What kind of a machine do you use? Is it a PI or a VLF. My main interest would be gold nuggets in known placer and lode mining areas in the mountains and streams of Colorado, hence a lot of possibler magnetite and other heavy metal interference.
