Minelab explorer2 Falcon md20

I'm Here in Boulder Colorado (I know I know...) and have an Explorer 11 or "2" by Minelab with "FULL BAND SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY". It will hit coins and rings and refined metals like "snap!" Including 1960's and 1970's Coors beer cans. Can this rig be tweaked to find small pickers?
Also, is there anyone who can give me info on safe historical and or old sites where I may "poke around a bit"?

from Utah. Not sure about the old historic sites, if you do some research you may find which public parks have been created the earliest within a reasonable driving distance, and maybe m/d there. Good luck and HH.
