Hello... completely new to all this.  Hope I bought an appropriate rookie machine in the Tesoro Silver uMax.  Have used it a few times since buying it a few weeks back... so far, it's a riot.   Grin

Also picked up a cheap pinpointer (yup, the HF one) and again, have only used it a few times, but after "tuning" etc... seems to save me a bunch of time - so far.

Anyways, glad to be here... seems like a great forum.

Welcome from Wickenburg! I'm also new to detecting and still trying to learn my machine, but enjoying it a lot.  The wife was laughing at me yesterday because I was excited that I had found 22 pennys at the local park.  I guess I'm easily amused Cheesy

In regards to the howdy, I am fairly new to this hobby or sport, and enjoy it greatly.  From the tucson area, so the only thing that affects my detecting is rain.  Glad to be on this fourm

Hey Ron,  welcome to Thunting.com.
     I'm in the Phoenix area also (Peoria/Glendale border).  There's plenty in the valley for all of us (and then there's the rest of the state).   You can learn a lot from this site.   If you have a specific topic, you might want to try the search option first to see what's already been written on the subject.  If you don't find the answers there, ask and someone will come up with an answer.
     If you're interested in joining a metal detecting club, we've got one that meets at the Arizona Mining and Minerals club on the 3 Monday of each month (7pm).   There are few others around the state including one in the east Valley.  Some people like clubs, some don't.

Hello again, thanks for all the welcomes I appreciate it.  Also thanks for the suggestions and advice, also appreciated.  Went out into the desert late last night... found more bullets and casing than I know what to do with.   Wink

Reckon this is gonna be some hit and miss... but sure is interesting so far.  Week or so back, hit a tot lot, found my first silver (in terms of a heart pendant and a bracelet pendant). 

Know what you mean bout getting all happy about finding the coins as well, ha ha.... gotta love it!

Let the games begin.   Grin
