Hello,
Newbie here from SoCal.  I've never treasure hunted before but I'm very interested in the technology involved, especially underwater hunting, and would like to learn more about it.  I look forward to reading and learning from you all.

Cheers,
Mike

Welcome aboard, Mike! Underwater hunting is the best way to ensure a gold find for certain. Where in SoCal do you live?

Thanks for the welcome, GD!
I live in South East L.A. in a city called Bell Gardens.

Not sure for how much longer, though, as I hope to soon move back to my hometown which is Redding, California (located in Shasta County waaaay at the top of the state).

There are a couple of lakes in the same county as Redding that I'm eager to do deep water hunting in.  Lake Shasta is the one that intrigues me the most.  It's the largest manmade reservoir in California and it's waters cover three old copper mining towns.  If I don't find anything of value, I'll be more than satisfied with any historical artifacts I find.   Smiley

I know Bell Gardens well. Had some friends in Whittier, Huntington Park and Downey where I used to consult for Kennedy, the tape drive company. I used to live in San Diego and spent at least one day a week up that way. People move around so much these days that I'm not sure where anyone lives any more. I just get happy when I run across them on Facebook or on some forum or other. Know what I mean?

Isn't Shasta a reservoir for drinking water? Northern California is the edge of big lake country. My wife and I love Big Sur and the entire northern part of the state from Monterrey to the Oregon coast. I live in Perth in Australia at the moment but we are bi-continental and move back and forth as the whim or need strikes.
