Go Up Go Down

I'm in Indiana. Retired. I like guns, shooting, hunt and fish, kind of explore the forest. Like old stuff and history, collect a few antiques.

I bought a used Bounty Hunter a couple years ago. About a month ago I made another effort at it. I got the instruction manual off the internet  and printed it. That made a huge difference. The next huge difference came when I watched a few of those TV shows, got wound up a little and decided I'd take the instructions and just put them in my pocket until I REALLY learned how to use this thing. I found the place to learn is right here at the house, on my target range. All that brass out there from years of use is perfect to learn. I learned to filter out the hits from 22's and only dig the reloadable brass. Next I started getting better about where to dig and learned to back up off the "hit" and then move slowly toward it and then it's just inside the ring. My holes I had to dig went from beach ball size to soft ball size and smaller.

This all started to make more sense at that point and I started hunting these spots I had scoped out for years. Some of them I searched over since the time when I first got it.

So far I haven't found any big treasures, 23 cents and those weren't old, but I have found a FEW iron relics I thought were cool. Some small gauge mine rail and spikes and one plate. I found a shoe last. A few older Ball jar lids. The spoon part of an old spoon and a lot of nails.

Jack, sounds like you are progressing very well with your detector.  One of the most often given pieces of advice is "learn your detector," and, "read your manual more than once!"  You are definitely doing it right!  The more experience you get, the better you will get and your finds will get better, too.  Keep it up, and Way To Go!   Great              Detecting

Welcome Jack. This is a great community. I'm glad you're figuring your machine out. On the job training is the best teacher. A big southern Mississippi  howdy do to ya.
