Walk out your front door to your sidewalk. Turn left and detect along the grass strip on both sides avoiding actual lawns. Just the edges. Travel as far as you can walk and then go home. The next morning, turn right and repeat the process.

These are good tips.  You also need to know what the specific state and local ordinances are for hunting public property in your specific part of Ohio.
