Hello, my name is Ian. I live in California and I would love more than anything else to become a well known professional photographer. I spend any free time I have doing portriat photography, nature, wildlife, abstract, and pretty much any other photography I can. I am a huge fan of geodes in any size shape or color. My wife and I are going to the Tucson gem and mineral show soon and while in the area I would like to search for geodes but I have no idea where to start. Could anybody give a good location?

Thank You.

We will be passing through Payson on our way to Tucson. We will be hitting the petrified forest as well so we will be traveling all over Arizona. Any information helps.
Thank you.

Well, you can still pick up some nice fist-sized and smaller petrified wood specimens just south of the river from the main part of Holbrook (just be careful to stay out of the national park when collecting, and don't give the rangers any reason to even think you've got samples from inside the park)  You can see some of what I picked up last spring here

I'll let you know if I find any geode locations worth checking out.   They've had some nice pieces come out of the Lake Pleasant area here in Maricopa county.
