Go Up Go Down

I apologize first off if my grammar is not the greatest.

I have loved Metal Detecting for a long time but to tell the truth have not bought one yet (married with two kids they have priority) but have borrowed from friends.
The reason I am writing is because I love History and I think the Detecting Community can and has contributed a lot.
About a month and a half ago a friend of mine was getting a foundation ready for a pour, during the day as they dug up the area shards of pottery started to show up, that afternoon after every one left he called me and asked if I could go bye and check it out.
To make a long story short after getting there I grabbed some samples and the next day went to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to there anthropology dept, after filing a report I told my friend that they would send some one over to check out the area, well again to make the story short so I can move to the reason for this posting the house is basically built and no one went there and another part of history is lost.
So to get to the point, I go to many websites, Metal Detecting and of other similar Hobbies and read about all the great finds but also read about all the laws that basically restrict the Hobby Community not just from Metal Detecting but also Rock Hounds and many others Hobbies that fall into the category I call Kicking the Ground above the Water as Below.
With such a large diverse community fragmented throughout so many websites we should have one website such as a federation that with member support and international support to represent the Kicking the Ground Hobbyist and lobby laws that would help not just the community but also History.
Most Hobbyists have very good records of finds and locations and would be willing to submit themselves to licensing like many other hobbyists and would consider profit-sharing and credit for the finds.

Pleas feel free to re-post this on other websites and get the ball rolling so that we can preserve History and Explore the World around us with respect.

                                                                                                              Sincerely Yours.
                                                                                                              Carlos Carvalho

Hey, Carlos, welcome to THunting.com.   You sure know how to make an entry, don't you.  Can't say I disagree with you on anything you wrote (and I sympathize when it comes to the priorities....fortunately there are a lot of aspects of the hobby that can be done without a detector).

Welcome to the group.  (and don't worry about the grammar.  just read a few of our posts and you will soon figure out that many of us are grammatically challenged).
