White's DFX

Go Up Go Down

Hi folks:

Here is a bit about me and my obsession with MDing.  I've have my DFX for several years now and have mostly used it to detect beaches on vaction.  Indiana clay is hard to dig and it can sometimes be hard to find good and legal places to hunt.  I went out today just beause I was so sick of being inside (it has been 100+ here for several days).

What I truly enjoy about this hobby is there is multiple benefactors from it if it is done right.  For example, when beach detecting I take all trash I find/dig and dispose of it properly - Sometimes this can be a pain.  Last year while detecting the Gulf Coast, I found approx 25 AA batteries in the sand. (Yes, I know, what were they thinking???)  The batteries did not go into the trash can - instead, they went back to Indiana to be recycled properly.  So as I pick up coins/rings/etc. the land/beach gets cleaner and people can enjoy their visit more.  I take pains to make sure holes are dug and refilled properly and I implore others to do the same - we already have trouble receiving trust from strangers . . . we don't need to make it worse.  As has been mentioned in many posts on this site, we help reveal history and pieces of the past and many times are the catalyst for archeologists being interested in a site.  There is a lot good about this hobby.

I would be interested in coin shooting with others as long as they are patient with a challenging schedule on my part - I have thoughts on possible sites, but I have no idea about how to go about getting permission to detect them.  I'm willing to help others find rings and items on their property, if they need the help - no fee, unless the drive is long (gas money would be nice).

Thanks for reading - I look forward helping where I can on this site.
