Smiley I live in the Kansas city Missouri area, and have been an avid explorer/treasure hunter for several years. I have been privy to several sweet adventures in exploring this area, and have lots of information pertaining to outlaws/loot/and historical significance to the greater Kansas city area. Recently I uncovered some interesting facts about Jesse James and his band, from old newspaper articles found in the old Kansas city library basement. Most people will never get the chance to explore here, and from the articles i found, there are alot of unanswered questions about the Quantrill raiders. I would love to get feedback on anyone that has interesting information, about the guerilla's activities around this area, as well as any tidbits to fill in some of the blanks.
Also I have been able to explore some of the natural caves in the city's downtown section, that remain a mystery to some and elusive to most. One such adventure took place at a sub-basement of a century old bank downtown location, in which i was given exclusive access in exploring the old coal tunnels that come from the sugar creek area along the Missouri river in which coal was transported to the downtown locations via a man made tunnel that predates the 1900's.

Hello & Welcome to the forum Bobrob. I grew up in the KC area near Swope Park back in the day when it was safe to play there. Hunted the park often with my frist Radio shack detector. I'm in S.E.Ks now so if your ever in this area (2 hours straight South of Metcalf on 69) give me a shout out. Theres many places near the Ft. Scott area that detectorists are allowed. Happy hunting and keep posting.  Great

So, when you find a cache of lets say "Jewelry" from lets say a 1927 Jewelry heist. Whats the best procedure or action to take? Some peeps say one should keep their mouths shut, and pawn off for as much as they can get. But is that really the right thing to do? However, who do you share with, and who do you not?

Hi Bobrob, and Welcome that's a tough one.. and another thing to consider is the surviving family members that are now going to go into fights over the loot... that is if the original owner(s) can be identified. You'll have everyone and their brother trying to make claim to some of it. IMHO.. yes, just pawn off what you can and see if you can auction off the rest.

Clapp Surprising enough, i did take the jewelry to a shop, and asked for an appraisal. 4-1carat diamond rings, and a 4 carat diamond ring, and on the 4 carat ring, it's surrounded by 4-1 carat diamonds all on a 24carat gold setting....smack!!!! whopping find.....the necklaces (3), two are solid silver, and 1 is also 24 carat gold chain....they said the jewelry is worth alot of dough, and asked if i'd sell the rings to them.....i'm going for a second appraisal of the rings. Now i'm fired up to find more!!!!!

Welcome from New Mexico.

The highest K gold jewelry I have seen was 23K.     That was over in Turkey.
