self intro. I hope this is the right place for the introduction? I'm from NH. Experiences: Found gold in 7 states plus Nova Scotia by panning and/or dredging.  Found 1852 3 cent piece in fine condition while digging for gold on the Wild Ammoonusuc River. Found picker in crevice above Baker River in Warren, NH. 50 years ago found a 1.2 oz nugget near foundation of old assayers office in AZ ghost town without a detector. Invented the Batpan. Youtube video of my wife digging gold in Alaska has 45,000+ views. Found gold jewelry in St Lucia with Minelab Excalibur. New interest:fluorescent minerals.

A 1.2oz nugget is a decent find with or without a detector....especially in an area as hunted as a lot of those ghost towns are.   And just because it was 50 years ago doesn't mean there weren't a lot of folks checking them out.

BA in AZ

Thanks to all for the friendly welcome. I finished my short wave black light. Works great. I read that chalcedony quartz, AKA desert rose, will fluoresce green. I picked up a bunch in AZ 10 years ago, but don't know where i put them.
