Hello, Reuniti.

Welcome to THunting.com.   You'll find a lot of your answers just by browsing our Beginners board and the Minelab board.   Once you've read a bit, you'll have enough information to ask specific questions (which are a lot easier to answer).

Good luck and have fun with that safari.

being new at metal detecting, my first thought is anything of value. Coins, jewelry, Gold,
Maybe Meteorites. Why do you ask?

Because what you are hunting for makes a difference to the techniques and the settings (the basics are pretty much the same, but little things make a difference).   By knowing what you are hunting for, people can give you better advice.   For now, we'll go with general metal detecting.

In which case the first piece of advise is "If it beeps, dig it".   The second bit of advise is to carry a small notepad and a pen or pencil with you so you can jot down notes about what the detector sounded like and what the reading was when you made a specific find.   That will help you learn how the detector "talks" to you.

Very good advice. Thank you
I cant wait to get out and start using it. Right now the ground is frozen and its to hard to dig. At least, i think so.
I have been taking items like pop tabs, coins, a silver bar, gold items and waving them in front of the detector and learning that way, but, doing it that way is hard.
