Hi All, I am brand new to this treasure hunting quest and would appreciate any well intended input or advice from all. I just started  by buying a Tracker IV to start with. I live in Sarasota near the beaches and was wondering, is therte a good time as opposed to a not sso good time to detect at the beach. Any thoughts or suggestions would be warmly welcomed.

Thanks,

Billy o

Hello and  Welcome to the Forum !!   The best time to detect is when the Tide is out . Also early in the morning when the beach is not crowded . If your detector starts chattering , erratic beeping on the the salty beach , turn the sensitivity down till it is quiet .

Billy Welcome from Texas

On the gulf we hunt the beach year round day or night what ever works for you. But fall and winter are a little better because the tides are lower.
If you use the search feature top right of page you will find lots of info on the  Tracker IV  plus beach hunting tips. Search the entire forum

Hey, billyo.....welcome to THunting.com.     Nice beaches you have in the Sarasota area.   Eugene and Seldom have both given you some pretty good advice... Mine is keep your eyes open for the areas where people are most likely to loose stuff (think of the areas you and your family and friends have lost items and the types of things you were doing when it happened).

Hi and Welcome to the Forum. Most anytime is good time to beach hunt. And of coarse low tide is always good. Learn your detector and most important have fun with it. There are treasures to be had at the beach. With time and practice you'll be rewarded. Come back and ask questions as need be. There are lots of experienced hunters here.

Hello Billyo. You live in a good area to metal detect. The beaches are ripe on a Sunday evening after everyone has lost their jewelry. Also check out the other forums here to find new sites in your area. There are a lot of historic sites around Sarasota. A friend of mine found coins from around the world off Long Key.

Detect at anytime. Sometimes someone loses a piece of jewelry and asks you to find it (for a reward). Just get description "before" you did for it. I'm of the Treasure Coast and the beaches are great. I'd like to try the Gulf beaches this year.
