Hey yall
Im just gettin into detecting and im lookin for a good beach and land detector. One thats fairly simple and cheap. I dont wanna spend over 300. All the cheaper ones had bad reviews @ the beach- something about the salt/minerals. So im looking for something that works well on land and beach also somethin thats reliable. If you all could direct me in a good direction thatd be kewl. Thanx Cool

G Day mharland you could try looking for a second hand Garrett sea hunter or a Sovereign Elite, or for a little more
look at the Minelab Sovereign GT, they are great for the Beach,

     Welcome from Arizona.
Given your limited budget, as long as you are not planning on diving with the detector, you might want to look at the Garrett AT-Pro (good for 10 ft which will cover you in case you get hit by the stray wave) or one of the Detector Pro Pirate models (although those do get mixed reviews).
As for the salt/mineral problem, if you go to our beach and shallow water board (or our Garret Board) you'll find ways to compensate for that.

BA in Arizona.
