Go Up Go Down

I got an ace 250 for my birthday a couple days ago. I have never detected before and was wondering if there were and good places to get started in the Tacoma area. I have read tons of the rules and regulations in the parks both city and state and was just looking for some guidance on where to begin.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
BW

Welcome from New Mexico.

You may want to start in your own yard.

 Cool

I agree 100% with Homie.
I found my first silver right outside the kitchen window and a bunch of clad, pull tabs, nails, you name it.
I still hit my yard almost daily to improve my skills, and also just started a test garden to get really scientific about it all.
A test plot is a must, if you are going to really get to know your detector. Set up some coins, tabs, caps, nails, etc and see what you can learn Teach

BTW   Welcome We're neighbors! (Seattle area)

ALSO I went to my home town park and couldn't take 3 steps without hitting a coin for 3 1/2 hrs!! (37 coins) Grin

Hello &  Welcome to the forum from S.E.KS.  Shake Hand . You will find that there are many  Laola Laola members here willing to discuss and help in anyway they can and all you have to do is ask. I would partice with a new detector in my backyard. You might try calling your local chamber for details on hunting your area parks. Happy hunting...  Detecting

I tried that. The apartment owners got a little unhappy. I also went to my parents house, i found a few things there, all trash but good practice.

The general idea was.... State parks you must fill out a permit, then you are allowed to hunt in unoccupied campsites. For the city of tacoma parks you are only allowed to detect on beaches where the holes are easy to fill in.

The official rules for city of tacoma parks.....# Metal Detecting - Use of metal detectors is limited to beach areas or locations where the environment can be accessed without damage and returned to its original state. Unauthorized cutting, removal, or destruction of any turf, tree, plant, shrub, flower, or seaweed on park property is prohibited.
# Smoking in parks is prohibited.
The state rules are far to lengthy to post.
