Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your knowledge. I'm from PA the land of snow, at least it sure seems like it. I'm recently retired and want to get back into detecting. On that note I do have a question. What is the frequency of the garret Groundhog ads from the early 80's. I have one but am unsure of the requested info. I will be getting into prospecting in the next couple of years as equipment is expensive and money takes time to save. As I began, HELLO!! Detecting

We got a bunch here that built and modifies detectors that can answer your frequency  question I am not one of them, but they will be along soon. Good Luck

You just asked them. They will show up in a while. Even in the cold bet some are out hunting.

I believe that the Garrett GoundHog ADS was a dual frequency machine operating at 5khz and 15khz simultaneously. For this reason, the coils for operation were very specific to the machine. I'm going by memory here so you might want to contact Garrett here: sales@garrett.com

Thanks GoldDigger1950, I appreciate the info and I will contact Garrett for more info. Now, has anyone used the Groundhog for prospecting and if so how is it in highly mineralized soil?

The 10 turn ground balance is a good feature that did the trick for me when I was out prospecting in Southern California and Arizona. There are better machines out there for prospecting though. That technology is quite good in the Garrett GroundHog but the modern PI machines with a mono coil are far better for prospecting.
