High my name is Mervy and I am a new user from North Alabama. Don't know a lot about hunting for anything but critters but want to learn. I have a white detector and have used it a little around my part of the woods. Found a lot of old iron stuff most of which is not recognizable but I hope to learn from the community. GLAD TO BE HERE

Welcome Mervy, I agree with Foiled - old relics could be out there. Research or asking some older people in your area for their thoughts on where to hunt might help a lot. Sue in Kansas

Hello, Mervy.   Welcome to THunting.com.

Whites makes very good detectors.   You'd be surprised how excited you can get about some of those unrecognizeable little bits once someone identifies them and tells you what they were used for and who might have lost them.   Makes history come alive.

Thanks for the welcome.      As all of you have said I should keep at it and I am going to do that. I have found some civil war stuff most just kicked in plowed fields. Mostly just musket balls I did find a buckle that was almost rusted beyond recognition, I have kept all of it, might be good for trading after "One mans junk is another mans treasure". I am glad to hear from you all and look forward to learning from the pros.

Mervy
