i am new at using a metal detector.  I have just bought a Garrett Ace 350 and need help and advice as to how to use it.  I am retired and would like to get together with people that are interested in helping me and me helping them.  I am fit and able and like hiking and walking.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Dennis.

Welcome to this new hobby of yours and greetings to the best forum on earth from Perth. Hey! That rhymes!

I haven't laid hands on the Ace 350 yet but like all detectors, the learning curve is shortened by you using it a lot. There are probably some pre-set programs available. Just try them for now and fiddle with the settings to learn what each does.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Welcome from New Mexico.

Use the Prestet marks if any and dig it all until you figure things out.

Those ACE machines are getters for sure.

Hello, gnome.    Welcome from Arizona.   You've been given some very good information.   Add to that, "read the manual" (garrett manuals are generally pretty well written) and then read our beginners board.   You'll find loads of answers there.  If you don't, then post a question (as specific as possible) and someone will provide an answer.    Also, if there is a metal detecting club close to you, I'd recommend joining it.
