HI all ,
looking forward to your posts and to learn anything i can from you and to share whatever treasures and knowledge i may gain along my travels.i previously owned ones of whites best detectors. i was lousy at it and only got nails. bottle tabs and junk. i wish to try again. i had sold that detector on eBay after owning it a month. i want to do this for exercise and entertainment. i would even like to learn from others as well as a few friends of mine. anyone willing to teach a few middle-aged, a bit slow Maine women.we are interested in bottle sites as well. we also would like ideas as to a good easy detector that is not heavy to learn with. One of my friends has one but i couldn't tell ya what brand. I'm assuming it is inexpensive. looking forward to hearing from you. we are near sagadahoc and cumberland counties.thanks.

Hello, Crystal, and welcome from Arizona.

You can find a whole lot of information about WHAT TO CONSIDER when buying a new detector by using the search function at the top right corner and entering "best detector" and then searching the "entire forum".     That being said, if you are looking for a good, light weight, easy to use metal detector that is suitable for a "beginner" but that an "old-hand" wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with, look into the following (in no particular order):

Garrett's Ace 250/350/or AT-Pro
Fisher F-4 or F-5 (or the Teknetics Delta 4000 made by the same company or one of their Bounty Hunter equivalents)
Tesoro  (any of their detectors, but particularly the Silver)

Welcome from Tennessee. I use a Bounty Hunter Discovery 1100. Turn and and go. Simple to use and good response. Also inexpensive.

Greetings & Welcome from the other side of the country (Washington).
I joined a local Treasure Hunting club, and they have been lots of help.
Same with the crew on this forum, although I wonder about ARR (Gary) sometimes    Wink.
