Clapp I went out This Sat. July 3rd with some new found friend here in the Sacramento, CA area. We went to the Auburn gold country, this was my very first time out , EVER!, for gold hunting with a detector.  I just got my new X-Terra 705 about a week before the hunt. My new friends both Have a Minelab GP 4500. When they saw my "705" they said that I may have a hard time finding anything here with the high mineralization and hot-rocks in the area, you may use or back-up unit the 2000di. Well, they were very impressed, as well as I. I found 5 nuggets!!!! and a lot of squar nails and .22 lead bullet. Not bad for a "Greenhorn". Thanks Minelab for a great machine.  To all "705" owners, if you are to use the prospecting mode, I suggest you visit Dectector forum for this machine to know how to properly set it up for prospectin, it relly helped me to get that ellusive yellow metal!!!!     Daniel.

Welcome aboard from Australia!

Don't lock your topics, mate. What that does is allow only moderators to comment on your posts. It doesn't lock it in position or anything. That's called making it Sticky which can only be done by a moderator.

It's all about that magical moment of discovery when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

705 with the higher freq coil should work fine, all you gotta do is get the coil over the nuggett-NO MATTER what they got, if the coils not over the nuggett=

Nice one Daniel my mate uses a 705 here in the UK & has found some nice stuff inc small roman & a half hammered coin. We swapped machines & I let him use my safari, only been using his 705 for 10min when I had a nice coin signal at 40 on the meter.Dug down 12" in hard pasture to find a 2 Reales of Spain dated 1721 in great condition ( my best coin ) don't let anyone tell you otherwise the 705 punches well above its weight Wink good luck & good hunting.
cheers
 Fred
