Hi GD thanks for the quick reply, just some questions for ya if you dont mind as this is my first detector, I paid $500 not knowing anything about them is that price right?? Its abit on the heavy side for me after a while my shoulder aches lol is there lighter detectors that are equivelent and price that I could have got?? And basically any info for beginers such as myself as i absolutely love this hobbie thanks??

Ah, watch out for that bug, mate. Looking for your second detector already is a sign that you are aggressively addicted to your new hobby.

Go out to Midland to the Prospector's Patch and have a look at the bungee harnesses there. You can eliminate the burden of the weight on your arms and shoulder by using one of them. They distribute the weight to your shoulders and arms together making it seem less of a burden. The trouble for me is the number of hours I hunt makes any detector seem heavy after a while.

You got a really good deal on your White's machine and it happens to be in the upper range of the light machines. The Garrett Ace series is lighter and costs about the same brand new.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
