while i was hunting for deer a saw a meteor fall from the sky over the hill and i saw a flash when it hit so as i was leaving, i marked close to the spot with my gps and went back with my old metal detector and found it within 2 hours. it was alot of fun. (5 lbs 3oz)

You do realize that in astronomical terms, that was a very near miss you had there.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hey Crusty,
Caught your post this morning.  I used to live over there in the Ontario area.  Did lots of prospecting up North of there.  How long you been at this?  Maybe we can trade some stories?
Drop me a line.
Bruce

Haven't been at this yet.  Just bought an AT Pro and then had to send her back to Garrett for repairs.  Hopefully when the wamer weather arrives I will be able to get out and give the hobby a try so sorry, no stories to trade at this time...
