8)Kool, thanks Golddigger1950, I will check it out and see what I can find. Also looking around old homesites. I hear that years ago people buried their loot. Today I went out, beautiful day in W. Tenn. Found a couple of pennies, and some kind or ring, probably from an old horse halter or such. I tried to clean it with brass cleaner, didn't touch it. Scraped it little, yellow metal underneath. Trying to find a way to clean it.  Detecting

Yes, hidden money is found regularly by the diligent treasure hunter.

Try a brass wire wheel in a drill to clean that ring. It probably is a saddle cinch ring, as you suspect, although they were mostly made of iron. Fancy ones were brass. Don't forget that it may be part of a combat scabbard for a sword or dagger. How big is it?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

About 2" diameter and 1/4 thick ring. Going to try brush and see what happens. Wise Thanks
