I do not have a machine yet.  I want my son and I to build a machine,  but its been 20 plus year since I have done electronics.  I'm sure we can do it.  It will be a great project for a 13 yo. and his father.

Hello, yak and welcome from Arizona.   Spent some time in both Birmingham and Montgomery about 20 or 25 years ago.   Nice place with great people.

I suggest you head over to our Tech Talk boards and see what types of projects people have been working on their and what sort of challenges they've had (and how they overcome them)....You'll find tips and tricks on all parts of the project including how to construct jigs for the coil.   And as for the 5 posts needed to obtain full membership status and access the downloads section, you're doing great---only two more posts to go.

I am thinking along the lines of an PI and the low frequency one.  I would like to be able to hunt everything.  But I think I should start off with PI i think just to get used to hunting, then go itno the kind for finding nuggets.  I live near the areas where gold was mined in Alabama.
