I lived in Mt. Home about 20 years ago. Did a lot of rock and gold hunting around there.Had some claims on Sinker Creek. The state would not let us mine as the snow pack was low that year so they denied us water use permits. We dropped the claims and as far as I know it is still open for claiming.Follow the Silver city road till you cross Sinker Creek There is a good pullout for parking. Also a rough 4  wheely trail which goes down stream. A rancher owns the property there at the pull out.He has it gated so you may want to get his permisson to park there. There is about a mile of creek that is open for claims between his pattened  Properties. South of Murphy on Reynolds Creek, I found a 36 cal. colt pistol made in 1860's. Lot of old stage robberies in that area as there were shippments of silver out of silver city.
