Hi. I'm just starting out. Trying to figure out some locations that I can hunt on for next Spring. I'm located in Toronto, not easy to find anything in Southern Ontario so far. What about you?~

Hello Sparkersss

Welcome from Australia How Toronto these days?

There is quite a bit of history around your area if you know where to look.

Hi & welcome! Here's a link to a lost treasure that I bet, if it existed, they didn't recover.  Smiley Sue

DIVE FOR TREASURE LOST 300 YEARS AGO; Search in Ontario River for Chest of Gold Dropped by Jesuit Missionaries. IT CONTAINED ROYAL GIFTS Location of Box Was Determined by New Magnetic Divining Rod.

PENETANGUISHENE, Ontario, June 14.--Gripped by the lure of sunken treasure, divers worked feverishly today beneath the murky waters of the River Wye, about an ancient chest sunk deep in the mud. They hope to raise it tomorrow.

Sparkerss, it all depends upon what you are hunting for.   We've got a couple of members in southern Ontario who always turn our heads with the relics they find.    On the other hand, if you're looking for unprocessed gold, yes you'll have to travel a bit.

WOW...I never thought the Wye River (which is in Midland BTW, not Penetanguishene as the article reads) would have treasure in it...I live three clicks from the river. And, St. Marie among the Hurons is (was) a Jesuit Mission (not a Fort as the article denotes). Father Brebeauf and the tales of his torture (and torture of the other missionaries) is a somewhat cool piece of local history. As I am new to T-hunting I think I will start metal detecting along the banks of the Wye near the mouth. The river used to be used to ferry barges at one point and there has to be lost shipments of goods somewhere along the line...I will keep the site updated if I find anything. Probably wont be until May though; as we are currently buried under two feet of ice and snow.
