Garrett Ace 250

Go Up Go Down

Hi, I am a 67yr old male from South West England.  Had 37th Wedding Anniversary 4 days ago. We have three children, youngest son and I are fairly new members of the Milton Keynes Searchers but I have been a keen detectorist since around 1992 attending many organised rallies.  I have just purchased a Garrett Ace 250 since looking at the many 'U' Tube video's showing their capabilities.  Also have a Fisher 1265X and an ancient Tesoro Silver Sabre Plus. Both machines have served me well over the years but wanted a more recent detector and the Garrett seems to fit the bill.
Although living in the most land Locked County in England and the nearest coast line is a three hour drive I often detect on beaches and this I find very exciting.  Mind you after hearing how far beach detectorists in the USA drive I consider myself very fortunate.
I hope now to report any interesting Finds a chat to my new found detectorists through this Forum.
I wish you good Digging and all the very best.
Garrettman.

Smiley  Thanks for your friendly welcome Smiley.  As yet I have only been able to get out  once with my recently acquired Ace 250 and that was on a stubble field.  Unfortunately it turned out to be a pretty unproductive site and I found nothing except dross even though I had it set on coins and relics.  The day was not entirely lost though as my son using a fisher 1265=X unearthed a lovely Roman coin in pretty good condition (yet to be definitely identified by our club Finds Liaison Officer).  Each club in the UK has one of these Officers based in the County as the representative of the Archaeologists. This way they can build up a picture of where 'Finds' are unearthed throughout the UK and consequently where Roman settlements were situated.
All the best and good digging where ever you are in the world.
Garrettman

Ace 250's are not good for the seaside I hear. Apparently, the wet sand drives them nuts.

 Detecting

I've yet to get to the coast and try out my Ace 250 but from all the reports I have read and conversations I've had with other members in my club apparently the machine works very well on all types of sand.  As soon as I get the chance to see for myself I will post a report.
Good Digging
