Hi Every body. New guy from L.I. New york. Just picked up a Fisher f2 and of course I don,t what I am doing. But I guess as soon as the snow melts and can use it Ill figure it. Glad to be here and hope to make some friends.  Thanks Ed

That's the way it is at first. I have to learn how to use every new detector I get. Do some research around your area and plan where you might be interested to go digging.
 In the meantime just read the manual and you might just want to try the detector on different objects to let you know what to expect when you get out there after the spring thaw.

Welcome to the site!  There is a huge amount of knowledge here.  I'm also new to detecting,  I watched as many videos of my detector as I could and I think it helped a bunch.  Good Luck!

EdB, Welcome aboard, Its a great site and a great hobby, Read every thing you can and ask questions that is how to learn. If you are new, be careful to stay away from Federal and State lands. Most are off limits. I started out with County and City parks to get the hang of it. There is lots to find there and in my area its allowed. Check first. Be sure to ask permission before going on to private land. You will find there are plenty of places to hunt if you ask.
