Go Up Go Down

hello to everyone here on this great board.although i have allready made a couple posts i am a new guy and would like to introduce myself properly.my name is bob and i live in northern Minnesota.i am a truck driver and travel all over the u.s so i get to see some pretty intresting things.i own my truck so i can run at my own pace.my hobby's include most things involved with being out doors including gold panning and treasure hunting.i have found a few treasures over the years and lately i have been devoting more time to the hobby.i have learned some pretty interesting things on this board so far, stuff i would have never thought of myself so I'm glad to be a new member and look forward to everyones ideas and wisdom.i have allready put some of the advice to good use and am about to embark on my first major expedition.i mean i was asking someone i know about the land his family owns and all of a sudden he tells me that they owned the land(20,000 acres) for over 100 years.they have a Indian village(t pee rounds they call it)that have never been disturbed.paintings on canyon walls, pottery, arrow heads made of flint some rock tools and the sacred rock.I'm not sure what that is but it sounds pretty important.anyways back to the story.i think this site is blackfoot from the research i have done.can anyone tell me more on the blackfoot Indian?from what i have seen they left in a real hurry and didn't take anything.i think it's going to be a sad story of how they were forced out by the settlers that were moving west to the gold fields.the land is 20 miles long and about 10 miles wide with many early log cabins and also the historic Oregon trail runs across it.the trail is 300 feet wide and ruts 3 feet deep some of the stone has ruts Warren into it as well.there is old wagon wheels strewn about some personal effects as well.i think i could be here a while.any advice is welcome and thanks for now.bob.p.s sorry for the long intro.

Welcome aboard from Australia. A treasure yarn never goes astray here. The only thing missing is a cracker barrel and a pot bellied stove.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hello and  Welcome to the Forum . The historic Oregon Trail is definitely something you should explore and study  especially if you get permission to go on that large piece of property . And there is Gold in Oregon !!!  Best of Luck and please keep us posted on your prospecting and treasure hunting progress .

If it was me and I had his permission, I would spend most of my time at that site for awhile. Tongue

I live in Western Mn, perhaps we could go MDing together.

permission has been granted.it is the Oregon trail but it's in Montana.from what i have learned so far is during the migration west to the gold fields the wagon trains would hold up for the winter in this area.it's located on the east side of the Rockies and it looks like they were in the thousands.in the spring, they would cross the pass that Lewis and Clark mapped out.i think i will find treasure hidden by allot of the people that embarked on this increadable journey.but there is a story of historic importance here as well and i really think that is one that should be told. thanks for the intrest.bob.
