Go Up Go Down

Hi guys im new to metal detecting and could use any advise on the correct way to do things, and any help with rookie mistakes to avoid.  I took my bounty hunter titanium out today for the first time and had a great time even with the small booty i recovered.  I made it out to a local beach close to my home, and a small park that was near.  Lastly i visited a large open park used for soccer/frisby ect.  Total haul was 2 mid 90's quarters, 2 80's dimes, and 2 random pennies, also found was cross pendant non precious metal.  I Found most items at the beach but i'm sure i passed over many items because of having my sensitivity/discrimination not set correct.  As i said today was my first day and i learned several things.  First off plan better the places to visit the night prior to the search, secondly bring the proper tools for the search i'm planning, and thirdly get more familiar with the operation of my detector (sounds of the tones/chatter of junk metals).  I'm excited for many more days of treasure hunting and would greatly appreciate any tips, thanks and happy hunting all!  P.S as i mentioned i am using a bounty hunter titanium camo that i listed above. I would love you're opinion on the detector i am using, and any tips on maybe how to get the most out of the machine.  thanks again.

That detector will do the  job.    Your on the right track and just need some more time.

Kill the Descrimination, Dig it all learning the sounds of that machine.

Howdy, Splinter.  Welcome to the boards.   Read the manual a couple of times and then take notes of what your are experiencing (good and bad) when you are out in the field.  Then come back and read the manual another time and you'll find it starting to make more sense.   Keep your coil parallel to,and very close to, the ground.   Make sure to have plenty of overlap in your swing and don't try to cover to big of an area.  Better to concentrate on a small area slowly and thoroughly rather than trying to cover a lot of ground while you swing the machine like an old weed whacker.

Welcome from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon.   Welcome   Like B.A and Homefire said, familiarize yourself with the manual and detector.  Than what you need is practice, practice, practice!  You are on the right track.  Congratulations on your finds!                     Detecting

A pic of my first day's find.  And thanks again all!

Wow i hope being dumb dosen't reduce my finds.  I have a bounty hunter "titanium" not "platinum", the camo paint scheme purchased at cabela's.  Not sure if there's much of a difference between the 2 machine's.

Welcome Splinter from the mountains of eastern Tennessee. Homies advice is sound. Dig it all. Lern what the machine is telling you and you'll do fine.
