New to this Forum....hello to all.

Been swishing awhile....since the mid-70's....no huge finds but have had a lot of fun! Prospecting since the late 60's. Now am retired and hitting the beaches more often, since our Daughter lives in Texas.
We have travelled.....driven....everywhere! More than likely we've logged over a million miles and have driven to or through all but about 5 states, many several times! some of our favorites out west, south and southwest. Been to all states west of the Mississippi and most of the east too....if anyone needs travel tips, please ask!

Always looking to meet folks and discuss places to dig, pan or detect.

Hopefully I can contribute something to these boards and also hope to learn from those of you who are as obsessed with this as I have been with travelling!

Well, welcome from Cincinnati OH. Still a little cold to be out yet.  Hope you're finding stuff on the beaches!

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the welcome.

Homefire, where are you at in NM? Been all over that state but mainly digging in the Ghost towns 35 years ago before it became cool to reinhabit them (and prohibit swishing!). We
Were through there late last September, came in from Arizona on lod route 66, dropped down to hit White Sands (made snow angels in the sand!)....reminded me of Minnesota in February! Bought pistachios and peppers to take home then on into Texas to visit our daughter. Also been through most of Arizona and have relatives down near Green Valley and friends in Phoenix, so any hints about that state would be welcome too.

As for my finds, had many rings that I sold off over the years but not too many pictures.....used to be a starving treasure hunter but you all know how that goes. Years ago we'd talk about it but nobody took pictures as it cost money to buy film and have it processes, etc....wish I had, though. We used to detect the Fairgrounds and came bac k after the fair with pockets full of coin (and other goodies!) Much of my prospecting finds are still buried here and there in my basement, but I'll make an effort to dig some of it out.
It was all part time but now I am retired so hopefully........

Go Up Go Down

Will def be down and out thataway sometime this summer again and will be sure to get in touch.
Used to go through those Ghost towns like Truth or Consequences and White Oaks with a couple of old White's coinmasters that a buddy owned....needed a trunkload of D-cells just to keep those going but they worked....mostly nails and other cast iron junk... and nobody lived there.
I understand now that White Oaks is a "historic' town full of artsy crafts and such......kinda like Cripple Creek in Colorado. Twenty years ago there were 8 people living there....now it's a huge gambling town! I must be getting old!

Nowadays I really like using the Garrett ACE machines. They are inexpensive, lightweight, use very little battery and work really well for what they are. I can't say I have ever been into this hard-core but it's always fun and the anticipation of finding a gold eagle......well, that's what makes it fun to me, even if I never find one!
I have dreams of someday trying out one of the big Minelab units and hitting the tailings piles at the Goldmines I know of out in Montana and Colorado, but I understand most of them have already been through recently.....
