Hello there.  My name is Duke and I spend my time fishing Northern British Columbia. I just bought a detector to check out some fishing holes for treasure....

Welcome, Duke......at the very least, you should find some dandy fishing lures.   And if the fishing holes were used as swimming holes, there's no telling what else you might find (then again, even if they were strictly fishing holes you might turn up some nice coins from careless or lazy fishers)

BA....You reckon there might be a ring or two at the waters edge, while casting from the shore off goes the ring into the water...? Maybe somebody had a few to many and fell in the water!

That's a definite maybe.    As the beach hunters keep telling us, cold wet hands mean rings flying off---and depending upon the size of the fishing hole and the gusto of the cast, there's no telling where the ring would end up.   I was originally thinking in terms of laying down on the bank for a short nap (fishin' southern style) and having change fall out of your pockets.   I'd also expect to find a few lost/forgotten knives (both fillet and pocket) as well as the odd pair of pliers.
