I am a new member to this site but not to metal detecting.
I'm located near the upper Texas coast and always looking
to search something with a Historical connection.
I'm presently interested in the Battle of Medina, fought
near San Antonio in 1813, largest battle ever fought in Texas.
Actual site has never be located.
I'm looking forward to seeing what other people post on this
site and viewing their finds. Good Luck to all.

Haybudden2.......welcome to THunting.com.   We've got several members along the upper coast of Texas + quite a few other Texans on board.   If you're interested in the Battle of Medina, there's no reason not to start a post on it.....I know that battle has interested me since I was in grade school in San Antonio (always figured it be one of the areas I'd like to hunt when I move back home).

Thanks for the welcome.
The Battle of Medina has interested me for a long
time also. Learned about it in about 1966 while in the
area, moved into the Houston area about 30 years ago
from New Mexico and started thinking about it again.
There is group that hangs out on TREASURE NET that
has made two or three organized searches last year and
turned up nothing.
I feel they are looking to far south and east for the site.
I will be going over there by my self in the next couple of
weeks to just scope out an area I think could be it.
I have seen the items referenced in another post today,
Bowie knife, hatchet, and glass items, they aren't
from that time period, even though that land owner wants them to be.

Again, thanks for the welcome

Seldom
Thanks for the welcome, always good to hear from someone
in the neighborhood. I'm just up the road in Sugar Land.

xavier,
Thanks for the welcome.
South Africa must have many interesting
areas to hunt with some unusual finds.
South Africa always make me think of the
1960's movie THE ENDLESS SUMMER.

Thanks  Haybudden2

Yeah I post that article its all I have on file about the Battle of Medina never was real interested in it. But now that some members are showing an interest maybe we can get some debates going.
Keep us updated on your trip to the area
