Adding a welcome from Arizona and seconding GD's question--need to know who makes the detector before we can tell you what kind of batteries.

The Metal detector is made by Goldseekers electronics in Grompton Sth Australia it is a Goldseekers 3d 9000 detector with a discriminator . I have tried a 9.6 volt remote control car battery in it and found around 30 - 40 glass bottles dating back to the 1940's approx in an old rubbish pit ........ not too bad for a first time out with with the detector now all I need is to find a manual so I know how to use the bloody thing instead of pretending to look like I know what I'm doing lol and thanks for all those warm welcomes people it's great to meet nice people.

I think that company later became Minelab. Ring them and find out.

For the amazed among us, how on earth did you find glass bottles with a metal detector? Don't look for a manual, mate. Just explain this miracle and you'll be fabulously wealthy in no time at all.
