Hello riverrunner.  Welcome from Arizona.   Just got back from two great weeks in the Breckenridge/Leadville area.

In your search for legal information, you can start with a thread on our site that Homefire is maintaining

The laws and regulations are going to vary based on who has jurisdiction over the piece of ground you are searching.  In other words each city will have its own set of rules for parks that it administers and these rules could be very different from those that apply at a park administered by the county or the state.  In preparing for my trip to Colorado, I did do some research...you're in luck.  For the most part, Colorado seems to be one of the most detector friendly states I've seen.  Hopefully wise use and common courtesy on the part of members of our hobby will help keep it that way (as long as we don't let the environmentalist and the "preserve everything at any cost" bunch paint the wrong picture of us or shove through bad laws while we aren't looking.

As always the best place to start is your own yard, especially if you live in an older part of town.   After that, I'd try to get permission to hunt some of the vacant lots in older section of town or in some of the "ghost" towns.

Welcome from New Mexico!   Yep, What type of hunting are you looking to do?

Were working on a library of stuff about State and local law.

Tell me were and what And I will look it up and add it to our list.

Go Up Go Down

I have detected a couple of parks so far and was not bothered by anyone so far. Breckenridge I past through this past weekend, giving a tour through the state for visiting relatives. I usually gold prospect near Buena vista, Fairplay, Alma. I detected New York upstate where I lived in all the parks was allowed as long if you don't make a mess. Been here in the Springs and it new territory for me and don't want to rock the boat if you know what I mean.
