Welcome from Texas, Pat.  Maybe you ans Scott will stick around after your research?  This is a great place.
Wish I could help about the bottles, but the only thing I know is, they break!

Best of luck,
Bill

Hi Pat.  Normally I'd say welcome from Arizona, but at the moment I'm in the heart of Texas, so that won't work...but welcome anyway.

You picked the correct place for your introductory post, and a good site to do research for you boyfriend.   A lot of us have gotten interested in bottle collecting because we find interesting and unusual bottles while metal detecting.  Others came to this site (and possibly to metal detecting) because they were already collecting bottles or were prospecting or hunting for meteorites or just interested in "treasure tales".  We try to accommodate all those interest and any others that can fall under the general category of "Treasure" hunting.  Because we have a very diverse group, I think we generally do a pretty good job of it.

If you haven't already done so, you'll want to go to the top of this page and click on the board index tab.   Then scroll down to Bottles, glass, and ceramics board.  You should find some interesting posts there.  If you have questions about a specific bottle (or you want to show of some of his finds)), that's the place to start the topic.  When asking for help identifying bottles, it definitely helps if you can posts some good quality pictures of the bottle (at least 3---one of the whole bottle with something to show the scale, one of the bottom of the bottle so we can see any markings, and one showing any seams or special marks on the body or neck of the bottle that would help identify or date it.)

Good to have you here.

BA
