Good morning!  I pulled the trigger on a Bounty Hunter Quick Draw 2 last night.  It's being shipped and I should have in a couple of days!  I'll post pics of my first time out.  Probably be my front yard as I am unsure of how state parks and the like look at metal detecting.

Great site and lots of info!

-Mark

Welcome aboard and good luck detecting. Your own yard is ideal to begin learning your detector plus learning how to dig the targets and not leave a mess. Sue

Welcome Mark, As far as parks go each city has their own regulations. I'm in NYC and the Parks Dept. gives free permits for the year with submitting a copy of a driver's license. Every area has their own rules.

frazdad is right......you need to check the rules/regulations/codes etc for each specific government entity.   Here in the United States, National Parks and National Monuments are off-limits.   National Forests --- depends upon who is interpreting the rules, especially how they interpret the Archaeological Resources Protection Act.
As for State parks, once again you will need to check the laws and rules that apply to the particular state you want to search in.   Many states follow the national lead and forbid all metal detecting in state parks.   Some extend that to ALL state lands including highway rest areas.   Other states, such as Florida, allow metal detecting in some but not all state parks....and many of these require that you register.
Fortunately, in this modern internet age you CAN find the rules and regs for just about any governmental entity inside the United States and for quite a few outside.
