White's Spectrum XLT

 [waveing]Hi everyone!

I am new to this site and to metal detecting.   I bought a White's Spectrum XLT 5 weeks ago on Ebay and still don't have a clue what I am doing.  I have found mostly junk, except for (1) union civil war eagle button, 1 quarter, 2 dimes, and 4 penny's all clad.  I filled out the application for the TVA Permit and sent it in today and was wondering if anyone has had any luck hunting on TVA property? Also does anyone know of any sites I should check out in Middle or West Tennessee?

Thanks and happy hunting!

Hello and Welcome from Middle Tennessee !!

There are all kinds of great properties to hunt in Middle Tennessee, Just about every part of middle tennessee was trampled on by civil war soldiers, some of the best places are farms, and all u gotta do is ask.
maybe we can get together sometime and hunt.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

HelloWelcome from a former Middle Tennessee resident.  I lived in the Smyrna/Murfreesboro area for about 8 years in the 70's.  Of course the Stones River National Battlefield Park is off limits.  The Feds will confiscate you MD, car and YOU if you are caught MDing in the park.  But the battle raged all over the area and not just in the park.  I would try the municipal parks (checking on regulations with the park districts first)  The fighting raged all the way down to Chattanooga.  I wished I still lived in the area with the MD I have today.  Good hunting.

Actually if you go to the admin bldg for the Stones River battlefield , and ask if you can hunt they will give you a hand full of marker flags to place where ever you get a signal at. You can't dig but you can search then the park employess will come out and dig it up.
if i remember correctly if they find something of significance that they add to there display they will also put your name with it.

I did it once but I prefer to dig them also.

Hi Cheryl.   Welcome from Arizona.   I'd say a Union eagle button is a pretty darn good start.  (and like everything else, metal detecting has a learning curve.  Be patient and keep swinging).
