Hey, Tex.......welcome to THunting.com (don't know how many times I've had to explain Texican and Texian to those poor unfortunates who have never had the privilege to live within the borders of the Republic.)

Hope you enjoy the company here.

Hey there Mondo! Im in Carrollton as well. I just got a metal detector but havnt used it yet. I just started seeing stuff about the legalities of metal detecting. Now Im paranoid to use it. Do you know if carrollton allows it at public parks, etc?

thanks and nice to meet ya,
Russell

Don't let the naysayers and doom spreaders put you off. National Parks are off limits across the USA. National Forests require permission in most areas unless the land is BLM managed. Then, unless it is prohibited by signage, it's usually open land. Public parks, lakes and other areas are under state or local control. A few phone calls will get an answer for you. Alternatively, you could call the nearest detector store and ask.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
