Hi there,
my name is Dale and I'm interested in amateur gold prospecting and detecting. I unfortunately can't do as much now from my electric wheelchair, however I'm keen to
explore ways to adapt a gold seeking metal detector to my wheelchair. I live in Victoria, Australia.
Cheers,
Dale

Welcome from Texas, Dale. I know there's gotta be a way to detect. I've been trying to figure a way to mount a detector to my riding mower, trying to kill 2 birds, so to speak.  If you're interested, I'll talk to my boss on monday, and try to get more info, he has a friend in a chair, who somehow added tracks to it so the uneven ground was no longer a problem.
No matter what, best of luck, and show lots of pictures.
Bill

welcome from Arizona.....where there is a will, there is often a way...We've got some pretty inventive minds around here----they've even been known to come with some workable solutions to different challenges.  And I know there have been a few discussions in the past on ways to adapt to limited mobility (although many of the "proposals" were a bit sci-fi'sh....but I'm pretty sure there were some practical suggestions to).   I do know that a lot of the tasks involved in prospecting can be done even with limited mobility....so even if it takes a while to come up with some truly practical solutions to how you can swing the detector without getting interference from your means of transport, we should be able to at least give you some ideas on how you can stay involved in prospecting.   Drop into our prospecting board and our do it yourself board and see what is going on there.

Im a noob and using pans also. I find the 10" pan is very easy done with one hand. I enjoy stretching the muscles as it is work. Your gonna need a partner I think, good luck.

Hi Bill,
that sounds interesting. I'm  in an electric chair as I can't use arms or legs. I type using onscreen keyboard and Smartnav software (3m tape dot on glasses).Dot moves the mouse, etc.
I was kind of thinking of a trailing blanket antenna or square coil on wheels like I've seen. Will post in prospectors forum.
Thanks for the welcome!
