I am a professor in a university here in solano, nueva Vizcaya, a town in northern Luzon, Philippines. I was digging a hole to serve as a foundation for our 750kva generator when at a depth of less than 3 feet from ground level we found a concrete slab having the following dimensions: 40 inches by 40 inches by 40 inches. It could no be lifted out of the hole by a 1 tone chain block. A local treasure hunter came over and told me that it is a Japanese hurried treasure. I am not a believer in buried treasures tho there are lots of local and foreign treasure hunters in our locality. Is it possible that this concrete slab contains gold bars as the treasure hunter claims? Did the Japanese really hide their loot, if any, this shallow and encase it in concrete? Please advice me on what to do with it. If it truly contains a treasure can I donate it to a foundation for sick children? Will the Government interfere with it even if it located in my property?

, Hello and Welcome to T-Hunting from North Carlonia. As far as what you found and what to do with it
will depend on your local laws. I would find out what was there before I said anyrthing to any local officials. See what
your local hunter would do. He should know about the laws in your country. It could be a little sticky there. Good luck.ARR!

Thank you Gary Zenz and homefire. Our local treasure hunter took the concrete block today and told me that whatever it is he shall notify me at once. He used a 4 ton chain block to lift it. I asked an engineer if the weight of the concrete block is not normal for it's size and he told me the weight is within the normal limit for a concrete block that size.

Thank you arfieboy. Interesting indeed. I became interested in making my own researches in the fabled yamashita treasure and I became more convinced that there in no such buried treasures. It was just used as a way to explain dictators unexplained wealth.

I believe that what you say is true.  The more I read about the Yamashita "treasure" the more I believe it does not exist.  Especially when you hear a lot of the theories about where how and why, the more convinced I am.  Call me a skeptic.  I think you have it correct!  Smiley

Welcome from Arizona.    Most treasure legends are just that----legends with a VERY small kernel of truth (and the true events that gave rise to the legend usually actually happened somewhere else).
