I live in upstate South Carolina in a little town called Central. I have just bought a xj9-3050 but it hasn't arrived yet. Can't wait to get started. Retired early with a back injury and needed a hobby to keep active.

I'm right up the road from you in Charlotte, NC!  (Okay, about 3 hours)  I know the area around Cowpens and Broad river is supposedly good for Gold.  YOu'll ahve to let me know how the area around Hartwell Lake is.

I know the GPAA has a pretty active Chapter out off Columbia, you might want to check them out sometime.

As far as back injuries go, I'm right there with you Bdurham.  I'm in a wheelchair due to a back injury, but have powered chair will hunt!

Take care, Charlotte49er

Now that's a stroke of bad luck, mate. I feel your pain.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I'm also from upstate SC, in Greenville! Howdy neighbor! Happy Hunting! I know how the back thing goes, I have 2 herniated discs in my neck w/bone spurs but I refuse to have surgery, I'm a dummy and ignore those things, lol, so what if my left arm shoots out at times and suddenly has a mind of its own? (kidding) LOL!

Try using a JD CS gator to hunt with , I leave the scooter in the house and take the little JD out drive with one hand and hold the detector with the other plus it gives u plenty of room for all of your stuff.
