Just got a metal detector for Christmas and am looking to do some hunting. I'm an avid backpacker who frequents the high uintas. I also enjoy exploring Ancestral Puebloan ruins in central/southern Utah. I'm currently located in Clinton, UT. Would love to get out and learn the ropes from some locals. Thanks.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hello and Welcome aboard from Tennessee !!
Best advice i can give is to just go out in your own yard and try it.
then start looking for places to go and use it. (always seek permission if it's not your Land)
and Read as much as you can , There are lots of great and usefull information here.
Try locating a local MD group also. I am sure the members there would be helpfull
in showing you how they detect etc.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting.
Karl

Hey, I'm from the Riverton area in Utah.  If you learn of any good places around here I'd love to know.  Welcome to the hobby.
