Hi, I'm new to this forum and forums in general. I've been detecting for about ten years but just found this site today. I'm from West Bloomfield, Michigan, that's a little north and west of Detroit. I haven't had much time to detect lately, been busy launching a new online auction site. I'm hoping to learn more here and get back out when the ground thaws.

Greetings and welcome from Australia!

Good luck with your new auction site. Keep us informed as you get ready to turn it on and give it a shakedown test. You will get some help from users here who sell their stuff now on eBay only because there's nothing better.

, I appreciate the kind words. I've always wanted to visit Australia, probably everyone has. I've got a couple of your minelab detectors and love them.

Well, IP barring is a waste of time. Anyone wishing to get in just uses a proxy. I won't for your site but I do use one regularly to watch Hulu and full video TV shows in the US. We get the shows here but are barred from watching catch-up episodes unless we use a proxy.

Thanks, by all means have at the site, I'd appreciate any feedback, the restrictions are really just for us to work the kinks out.

Sorry, mate, but I do not use a proxy for sites where money is concerned. Only free sites that for some odd reason bar certain IP addresses. Australia is part of the Pacific Rim IP range and because of that we get lumped in with China, Korea and some other nasty places where hackers are not a cause for governmental concern. In fact, both that I named encourage the hacking and destruction of western web sites.

When you get ready, allow access by countries on a case by case basis. Don't even think about just opening the gates. Take it from a guy who runs 27 web businesses. That's how many my wife and I manage and own. Safety first. This is your living, or part of it.

Thanks for the advice, I'm a transplanted newspaper guy, used to have some papers, now a tech company. I really do appreciate the advice.

Hello, gwillardsr.    I think I'll take a look at the new site this weekend.  In the meantime, it's good to have you here.
