Hi everyone,
Just joined up, not detecting at the moment, in fact I haven't swung a detector in quite a few years.
Started off a long time ago with a White's 5000d, then moved to a Minelab XT17000, but that went when we needed some cash!
Just retired after 48 years of work, taking on a number of interests, and hope to get detecting again soon.
I used to go after just gold, mainly in the golden triangle area between Bendigo, Ballarat, and Maryborough here in Victoria, Australia. Only found a few small pieces though.
These days I'd have to spend a lot of money to get a detector that might find some gold on what is now well worked ground, so I'm thinking of looking for coins, jewellery etc.
Selling off a few bits and pieces on eBay to raise some funds that the wife won't get hold of, and then I think I may go down the track on a White's XLT or similar.
They seem to have a fair reputation down here in Oz, and I understand they may be OK on small pieces of gold?
I always liked the White's machine, the Minelab seemed heavy and unbalanced.
Anyway, here I am, ready to learn whatever you guys and gals can teach me!
Cheers
Chris
