I bought a $1 Metal Detector at a Garage Sale and have been using it for a month.
I just got a new Garrett AT-Pro, but have not had the time to try it yet.

Hello, steameng8.   Welcome to THunting.com.   You should like the AT-Pro once you've used it for a while.

Thanks, BitburgAggie_7377
I am tryint to make 5 posts so I can be an active member even with very little experience using a metal detector.
I volunteer dig with Archaeologist in Florida and have been using my cheap Detector with good results, but think the new Garrett AT-Pro will improve my finds.

Well congratulations....if you look right above your member name (or just below your Avatar) you'll see you accomplished it.   (much easier to do than some people think).   So have you done any interesting digs with the archaeologists there?

We have found lots of Native American Artifacts (Arrowhead points, lots of different types of Pottery), Spanish Beads, Spanish Pottery, and early Colonial settlements where I have found about 50 pieces of metal, but nothing of value. We do learn more about the people that once lived on the land - how long ago, how poor they were.

I also dug at aon old US Fort that no longer exist.  We found lots of pottery, ceramic pipes, musket balls, glass bottles, nails, brass metal parts from guns and cleaning kits, a silver cufflink, arrowheads, and small bones.  All will end up in a museum.  I did not use the metal detector at the Fort Site.  We just dug sample test holes and logged in the GPS and Grid positions and depth and date found.
Lots of fun!!

Attached are two pictures of the $1 Metal Detector I bought at a Garage Sale.   I could not beleive that the only name on it is "Metal Dectector".   I have no idea what make it is, but it does work.
